About the role
- Lead and deliver ad-hoc and planned data analysis to answer complex client and internal briefs
- Use SQL & Python for data analysis, transformation and automation where appropriate
- Support BI and reporting deliverables as required, ensuring outputs are accurate, scalable and clearly aligned to business needs
- Act as line manager for 3-4 Data Analysts, providing day-to-day support, coaching and performance management
- Support the development of technical capability within the team, including SQL, analytical thinking and best practice coding standards
- Carry out regular one-to-ones, goal setting and development planning, helping analysts progress in their careers
- Review and QA analytical outputs and code, providing constructive feedback and promoting high standards
- Work closely with the Insight Analytics Manager to identify internal and external opportunities to develop new analytical approaches, products and capabilities
- Contribute to shaping analytical best practice, processes and standards across the team
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and translate them into impactful analytical approaches and solutions for our clients
- Communicate insights clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences, telling compelling stories with data
Requirements
- Hands-on analytics experience, with strong SQL capability
- Proven experience analysing a wide range of data sources, including large and unstructured datasets
- Strong working knowledge of Python for data analysis
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms or services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Previous experience line managing a small team of data analysts
- Excellent business problem-solving skills, with a track record of developing creative, insight-driven analytical solutions
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities, balancing hands-on delivery with people management responsibilities
- Strong understanding of how analytics drives commercial value
- A keen interest in AI and emerging analytics techniques, and an appetite to explore how these can be applied in a practical, value-driven way (hands-on AI experience not essential)
- Confident communicator, able to present findings and recommendations to varied audiences
- Collaborative approach, with experience supporting and developing others through QA, coaching and feedback
- Structured, methodical working style with the ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, supportive leadership style
