About the role
- Provide 3rd level support of the Aegon/Transamerica Enterprise Network, including delivery of services and working with other support teams to meet enterprise business needs
- Troubleshoot incidents, provide escalation support for Level 2 Operations and provide problem resolution
- Support Global Wide Area Network, Metro Area Network and Local Area Network
- Support Firewalls, VPN technologies, Software Defined Network Technologies, and Wireless networks
- Perform in-depth analysis of packet captures and present findings with recommendations
- Configure and install network equipment on a large scale to support business needs
- Lead techlines and coordinate with 3rd party and vendor support teams to resolve network issues
- Mentor teammates in all supported technologies
- Assist in the development and enhancement of procedures
- Perform difficult assignments requiring originality and problem solving
- Run large projects and apply advanced project management concepts
Requirements
- Enhanced level of diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to excel under pressure
- Capable written and verbal skills, assignment and priority flexibility, time management skills and demonstrate a self-driven, proactive work ethic
- Proficient in designing, installing, and maintaining Router, Switches, Firewalls, VPN appliances, and Wireless
- Working knowledge of encryption methodology, MPLS, MLPPP, and VPN
- Able to work with routing protocols, including EIGRP, BGP and OSPF
- Capable of creating documentation of complex Network functions and site documentation
- Capable of Advanced packet capture analysis
- Able to work with 3rd party and vendor support teams to resolve Network issues
- A four year computer science or related technical degree or equivalent work experience
- Preferred: A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Network Operations technology specializing in data networking
- Preferred: Ability to work closely with 2nd and 3rd level Network Engineers as well as other teams
- Preferred: Experience working with diverse cultures on an International level
- Project and time management skills including the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Subject matter expert across technologies: Cisco and Juniper Routing and Switching, Mist Wireless Technology, Cisco ACI, Software Defined Networking
- Advanced knowledge of project management concepts; able to run large projects
- Able to lead techlines, including working with 3rd party and vendor support teams
- Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance
- Willingness to work non-traditional work hours, rotating after-hours on-call, and 24x7x365 contact availability as needed
