About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the lead legal partner to the Thermo King Americas business on business and strategic matters and day-to-day legal advice
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial equipment sales agreements
  • Advise on statutory and regulatory requirements for sales, installation, marketing, and products
  • Support strategic and tactical planning for new products and services and identify legal, contractual, and project risks
  • Identify and analyze claim rights and recovery from customers and suppliers
  • Review and approve marketing and communications materials
  • Advise on warranty documents, processes, and policies
  • Create policies and processes for data collection and sharing
  • Support litigation teams in resolving claims and litigation
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements administered by NHTSA, EPA, and CARB
  • Advise on dealer network matters, including franchise, dealer, distribution, and antitrust laws
  • Provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions
  • Develop standards, processes, metrics, templates, and tools for legal and contract processes
  • Establish and execute legal department goals, objectives, policies, and programs
  • Manage the legal budget for the Thermo King Americas business unit
  • Anticipate, manage, and mitigate legal risk
  • Align legal priorities and objectives with the SBU leadership team
  • Travel up to 25%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • J.D. degree from an accredited US law school
  • Member in good standing of a State Bar Association
  • 15+ years’ experience practicing as an attorney
  • At least 10+ years’ experience as in-house counsel
  • Strong corporate transactional background
  • Experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements
  • Strong experience in distribution and antitrust law
  • Strong legal judgment and executive presence
  • Proven business law experience and strong business acumen
  • Expert grasp of contracting concepts
  • Superior legal and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with business clients
  • Ability to understand business objectives, identify issues, and facilitate risk/benefit analysis
  • Business-oriented problem-solving and risk-management approach
  • Experience in litigation involving commercial agreements is an advantage
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and strong follow-through
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, manage simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal management and leadership skills
  • Flexible and adaptable in ambiguous or challenging situations
  • Experience managing outside counsel and consultants
