About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install building automation systems
- Use hand tools and interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications to install temperature control systems, including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices
- Prepare for on-site installations by examining building layouts, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating work with other trades
- Maintain assigned inventory, company equipment, tools, and vehicles
- Document job activities, time, progress, duration, repairs, maintenance, and equipment conditions
- Complete and submit required paperwork and reports in a timely manner
- Serve as the direct customer contact and service products and equipment on assigned projects
- Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems at customer locations
- Stay current on Trane products and direct digital control system installation
- Enforce safety standards and maintain security and accountability of company assets
- Travel regularly, including occasional overnight stays, and work overtime or additional weeks as business requires
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Typically 2–5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls
- Technical School or formal training preferred
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones and iPads
- Knowledge of low-voltage electricity and electronics, including board-level troubleshooting
- Knowledge of direct digital controls and building control techniques
- Current or future participation in the ABC electrical apprenticeship program desired
- Valid driver’s license held for a minimum of 12 months
- No major or frequent traffic violations, including DUI, hit and run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, multiple smaller infractions, or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
- Previous experience with DDC control systems preferred
- Ability to travel regularly, stay overnight occasionally, work overtime, and work additional weeks as business requires
