About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical service support for Trane Field Service Agencies, including travel to work sites when necessary
  • Troubleshoot commercial chillers remotely
  • Perform chiller service reports and chiller data analysis; organize reports and records to support data-driven decision making
  • Interact with Trane functional areas to provide customer support and achieve business unit objectives
  • Originate and technically review Help Center solutions
  • Travel up to 15% to troubleshoot, train, provide field support, and support new product development
  • Review and direct customer interaction for Trane chillers
  • Assist with root cause analysis and defect resolution
  • Author and review product literature and assist with training classes
  • Serve as subject matter expert for chiller components or applications and resource internal team members
  • Lead or participate on field quality problem-solving and field service communications teams
  • Ensure quality standards for technical service operations and customer satisfaction
  • Participate in quality audits, design review teams, and technology transfers
  • Identify field problem trends and provide information to Quality for product improvement
  • Drive quality improvement projects and participate in new product development as the voice of the field
  • Support Mission Critical customers with chiller startups, commissioning, and servicing, including support outside normal business hours when scheduled
  • Make data-informed decisions based on department goals and needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience in servicing HVAC equipment and systems preferred but not required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Professional training on various Trane equipment
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Understanding and application of temperature, pressure, and basic electrical theories
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones and iPads
  • Ability to manage support cases within Remedy software
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of typical HVAC equipment service routines
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex refrigeration and electrical systems
  • Current knowledge of Trane Unitary Commercial products, including installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair
  • Knowledge of Large Unitary Products and BAS systems beneficial but not required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple high-priority customer cases
  • Flexibility to work extended hours occasionally
  • Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines
  • Ability to meet the needs of internal and external customers
  • Ability to work regularly and dependably
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Ability to make decisions, learn, think rationally, and exercise good judgment
