• Review provider documentation from office visits, surgeries, imaging interpretations, injections, and other orthopedic services
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes according to official coding guidelines and payer rules
• Verify coding accuracy and completeness to support correct claim submission and reduce denials
• Query providers when documentation is incomplete, unclear, or inconsistent with coding guidelines
• Keep current with orthopedic coding updates, payer policy changes, and compliance regulations
• Collaborate with the billing team to resolve claim rejections, denials, and coding-related issues
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Participate in coding audits and provide feedback to improve documentation and coding accuracy
• Assist in educating providers and staff on documentation improvement related to orthopedic coding

Medical Coding Specialist – Orthopedic Surgery, Office Coder

• Accurately assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes to patient encounters
• Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance payers
• Monitor claim status, identify and resolve claim rejections
• Post payments, adjustments, and denials into the billing system
• Address registration-related issues such as insurance verification
• Analyze denied claims and prepare appeals to insurance payers
• Conduct regular reconciliation of accounts receivable
• Maintain knowledge of current billing regulations and coding guidelines

Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

• Quickly and Accurately code facility services for a wide range of surgical procedures and diagnostic studies
• Understand and follow NCCI edits and bundling requirements for facilities
• Understand and follow implant charging and coding in facility setting

Medical Coding Specialist – Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center

• Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for outpatient cardiology procedures, including diagnostic tests, invasive procedures, and interventional cardiology cases performed in an ASC setting
• Validate code selection against operative reports, procedure notes, diagnostic results, and physician documentation
• Apply modifiers accurately to reflect the ASC environment and ensure correct billing
• Ensure coding practices align with CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, payer-specific policies, and ASC billing rules
• Identify and address documentation gaps by querying physicians for clarification when necessary
• Participate in regular coding audits and implement corrective actions to maintain accuracy benchmarks (e.g., 95% or higher)
• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to resolve coding-related issues
• Provide feedback and education to clinical staff on documentation improvement for cardiology-specific services
• Support the billing department with claims-related coding inquiries and appeals
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, cardiovascular procedures, and ASC-specific regulations
• Participate in continuing education and attend training sessions as required to retain certification(s)

Medical Coding Specialist – ASC Cardiology Coder

• Accurately assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for professional services, focusing on Evaluation and Management encounters and associated tangential services.
• Review medical documentation to ensure coding compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and coding auditors to resolve coding discrepancies or documentation issues.
• Maintain proficiency in current coding practices, regulations, and industry updates to ensure accurate and up-to-date coding.
• Support internal teams by providing coding insights, education, and training on best practices related to professional services coding.
• Identify and communicate potential compliance risks or areas for improvement in coding processes.

Medical Coding Specialist – Profee Surgery Coder

Accounts Receivable

• Billing & Claims Processing: Prepare, review, and submit accurate insurance and patient claims for ASC and OBL cardiology procedures
• Verify coding accuracy (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers) for compliance and reimbursement optimization
• Ensure proper claim submission through clearinghouses and payer portals
• Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and manage aging reports; follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims
• Resolve claim denials and appeals by researching payer guidelines and submitting corrected claims
• Post payments, adjustments, and denials in practice management systems accurately
• Communicate with insurance companies to expedite claim processing and collections
• Patient Account Support: Handle patient billing inquiries professionally and provide accurate account information
• Coordinate payment plans and process patient payments as needed
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ASC and OBL cardiology reimbursement policies
• Generate and analyze billing and A/R reports to identify trends and recommend improvements
