About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Trainline’s competition and regulatory strategy globally
  • Act as a trusted strategic adviser to senior leadership
  • Partner with teams across Legal, Product, Technology, Commercial, Policy, and Finance
  • Represent Trainline with external stakeholders
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing legal team
  • Oversee team strategy, planning, budgets, and goals
  • Support Trainline’s response to complex and high-profile matters
  • Help the business understand and respond to innovation, emerging technologies, and evolving ways of working

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant senior legal leadership experience in regulated environments
  • Strong judgement and clear understanding of how legal, policy, and regulatory developments can shape business strategy
  • Experience advising Executive teams, Boards, or similarly senior stakeholders on complex matters
  • Ability to influence decisions in ambiguous or fast-moving situations
  • Strong track record of leading, developing, and motivating teams
  • Confidence collaborating closely with product, technology, commercial, or policy teams
  • Experience engaging with regulators, industry bodies, or other senior external stakeholders
  • Interest in innovation and emerging technologies, including how AI may influence legal delivery
