About the role
- Lead end-to-end corporate tax compliance for medium to large UK clients, including preparation and review of CT600 returns, corporation tax computations, and associated schedules.
- Deliver strategic tax advisory on corporate restructurings, M&A activity, group reorganisations, and international tax planning.
- Mentor and manage junior team members, ensuring consistent quality, timely delivery, and professional growth.
- Conduct detailed tax calculations involving deferred tax, capital allowances, R&D tax credits, and loss utilisation, ensuring full HMRC compliance.
- Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation, including master and local files, aligned with OECD guidelines.
- Partner with clients’ finance and legal teams to assess tax impacts of business decisions and support board-level reporting.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks, recommending corrective actions and compliance improvements.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation, HMRC guidance, and case law to maintain technical leadership.
- Support business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and contributing to thought leadership content.
- Uphold firm-wide quality control standards and professional ethics across all engagements.
Requirements
- Professional qualification in ACCA, CTA, ACA, or equivalent Chartered Certified Accountant designation.
- Experience in corporate tax, preferably within a top-tier accountancy firm or in-house tax department.
- Expertise in UK corporate tax, including corporation tax, capital gains tax, and transfer pricing.
- Proven track record managing complex compliance and advisory projects for corporate clients.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts for non-experts.
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCalc, Thomson Reuters) and advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, including mentoring junior staff.
- Exceptional time management and organisational abilities, with success in managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
