About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and manage end-to-end collections portfolio performance across all delinquency stages, from early arrears through recoveries.
  • Produce MI and data showing hotspots, improvement areas and future risks.
  • Develop and implement collections strategies to reduce arrears, minimise losses and improve cure rates.
  • Analyse vehicle disposal proceeds against forecast residual values, investigate variances and recommend optimisation actions.
  • Track and report write-off and voluntary termination activity, financial impacts and emerging trends.
  • Monitor roll rates, liquidation rates, NPA and loss rates to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Optimise segmentation, treatment paths and customer engagement strategies.
  • Ensure fair customer outcomes, including for vulnerable customers, and embed Consumer Duty principles.
  • Monitor outcomes testing and QA results for regulatory compliance and good customer outcomes.
  • Balance collections performance with forbearance and affordability-driven solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to FCA regulations, including CONC and Consumer Duty requirements.
  • Work with Risk and Compliance on strategy changes and mitigate conduct and operational risks.
  • Support regulatory submissions, audits and reviews.
  • Partner with analytics teams on predictive models, segmentation and treatment-effectiveness analysis.
  • Lead MI packs for senior leadership with clear, actionable insight.
  • Translate strategy into operational execution with performance, customer care and change teams.
  • Support collections transformation initiatives such as digital engagement, automation and new treatment paths.
  • Ensure testing, governance and post-implementation reviews for strategy changes.
  • Build relationships across Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Transformation.
  • Act as key contact for portfolio performance and collections strategy; influence senior stakeholders through data-driven recommendations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas and data analysis.
  • Significant experience in collections strategy and portfolio management within financial services; motor finance strongly desired.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends.
  • Experience of segmentation, strategy design, and optimisation across the collections lifecycle.
  • Experience producing management information (MI), dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Knowledge of portfolio performance metrics, forecasting techniques and risk analysis.
  • Ability to perform data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualisation tools.
  • Regulated Motor Finance experience desirable.
  • Experience supporting or leading transformation or change initiatives desirable.
  • Experience using SQL to extract, manipulate and analyse data desirable.
  • Analytical, commercially aware, proactive, customer-focused and collaborative approach.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
