About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide strategic leadership, performance management and practice oversight across a multi-disciplinary safeguarding service
Lead and support Team Managers to ensure children at risk of harm receive timely, effective and child-centred interventions
Shape service delivery and drive performance across safeguarding services
Develop staff and embed evidence-informed practice
Lead one of Torbay Children's Services' safeguarding services within the Decisive Multi Agency Child Protection System
Report directly to the Head of Service
Build strong partnership working and support continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Social Work Degree
Current registration with Social Work England
Qualified Social Worker
Significant/substantial experience working with children and families in statutory children's services
Successful management experience within safeguarding services
Experience of performance monitoring and performance management to drive service improvement
Experience managing teams and assuring compliance with policies and procedures
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, DfE guidance, Working Together 2023 and child protection practice
Knowledge of children, young people and family services delivered by the Authority and partners
Ability to lead, support and challenge managers to achieve excellent outcomes
Experience improving service performance and quality
Ability to build effective inter-agency partnerships
Decision-making, problem-solving and staff appraisal/motivation skills
Ability to deliver statutory performance requirements in children's social care
Awareness and understanding of equal opportunities
Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English
Enhanced Criminal Record Check and additional Barred List Check
