About the role

  • Lead a Social Work Team within Assessment and Intervention in the Children's Services Directorate
  • Manage care planning for children with a high level of need and those subject to child protection planning
  • Manage duty on a three week rota basis aligned to locality
  • Responsible for leading Strategy Discussions and overseeing s47 investigations
  • Allocation of work into the service and ensure compliance with policy and procedures
  • Provide clear direction, support and guidance through management oversight and review at key stages of the child’s journey
  • Provide restorative and reflective supervision to develop and support the skills and knowledge of the team
  • Work effectively with colleagues and partners across agency boundaries to deliver high-quality social work services
  • Report to Head of Service

Requirements

  • Relevant professional qualification to the equivalent of a degree or equivalent
  • Management qualification to certificate level or willingness to acquire such in a timely fashion
  • Current Social Work England Registration
  • Significant social work qualification experience of working with children and families in the context of current legislation and government initiatives
  • Or minimum of two years post social work qualification experience plus significant management experience in a relevant field working with children and families
  • Experience of managing or supporting others and assuring compliance to policy and procedures
  • Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English
  • Significant decision making skills and proven problem solving skills
  • Ability to appraise and motivate staff, work with partners across agency boundaries and implement anti-discriminatory practice
