About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including the preparation and entry of journal entries, invoices, and receipts into the accounting system.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, and ensure discrepancies are promptly addressed.
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring all employee records and payments are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Help in the preparation of tax filings, VAT returns, and other statutory financial obligations.
  • Support the senior accounting team in budget preparation and monitoring, as well as financial forecasting.
  • Organize and maintain financial documents, both physical and digital, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial audits, providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely submission of financial data and assist with internal financial inquiries.
  • Monitor and manage petty cash transactions and ensure all expenditures are properly documented and authorized.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of financial policies and procedures within the company.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures, and assist in implementing new practices as required.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with local and international financial regulations and standards.
  • Help in maintaining accurate records for financial compliance and reporting purposes.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • - Prior experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role is desirable.
  • - Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Pylon) and financial reporting tools.
  • Skills:
  • - Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • - Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
  • - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Greek.
  • - Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Qualities:
  • - High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • - Eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting field.
