- Onboard and train new team members on Tomo's systems, workflows, and mortgage fundamentals
- Monitor team workload and redistribute files as needed to ensure SLAs are met
- Conduct regular 1:1s and contribute to performance reviews for direct reports
- Serve as the first escalation point for complex file issues, flagging to the Junior Loan Processing Manager when needed
- Maintain visibility into the team's full pipeline, ensuring files are progressing and nothing is aging or stalled
- Review team output for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before files advance to underwriting
- Identify patterns in errors or delays and proactively address them through coaching or process adjustment
- Serve as the team's in-house expert on appraisals, title, homeowners insurance (HOI), and employment/income verifications
- Troubleshoot complex third-party issues — including appraisal escalations, title curative matters, HOI coverage gaps, and VOE discrepancies — with a clear understanding of how each impacts loan eligibility and timing
- Stay current on agency guidelines and investor overlays as they relate to third-party documentation requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5+ years of mortgage loan processing experience, with strong hands-on knowledge of the full loan cycle
- Deep familiarity with appraisals (order management, review, escalations), title (commitments, curative, endorsements), HOI (coverage requirements, binders, declarations), and employment verifications (written/verbal VOEs, 4506-C, self-employment docs)
- A natural teacher — you get energy from helping others grow, not just doing the work yourself
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities across a team
- Clear, direct communicator — comfortable giving feedback, setting expectations, and escalating when needed
- Experience with LOS platforms (Encompass or similar); comfortable learning new systems
- Prior lead or supervisory experience a plus, but not required if you're ready to step into it
