About the role

  • Processing payroll accurately and on schedule (weekly/biweekly/semi-monthly)
  • Ensuring proper calculation of wages, overtime pay, bonuses and deductions
  • Maintaining and auditing payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Managing timekeeping systems and resolving discrepancies
  • Administering payroll taxes, filings and year-end processes (e.g., W-2s)
  • Collaborating with finance/accounting for payroll reporting and reconciliation
  • Handling employees’ payroll inquiries with promptness and professionalism
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Assisting with employee onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Maintaining employee records and HRIS data
  • Supporting benefits administration and handling employees’ benefit inquiries
  • Assisting with recruiting coordination (e.g., job postings and scheduling interviews)
  • Assisting with compliance and HR documentation
  • Providing general HR support in enforcement of company policies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of payroll experience
  • Computer skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of HR principles and employment laws
  • Strong understanding of payroll taxes, wage laws and compliance requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
  • Associate degree preferred
