About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply experience, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills for the development and review of technical approaches and detailed electrical & control system design
- Design and develop electrical and control systems in accordance with applicable specifications, codes, and standards
- Perform electrical design calculations, including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protective device coordination assessments
- Work with engineers and technical experts to design and implement instrumentation and automation systems
- Prepare and update technical documentation and drawings—including Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, specifications, etc.—for both Power and Control Systems in accordance with applicable industry codes and standards
- Conduct site surveys and inspections to assess installation and operation of both electrical and control systems
- Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing
- Responsible for scoping, executing, managing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments at both task and project levels
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Electrical and/or Control Engineering (required)
- At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of progressive experience in Electrical and Control Engineering field with a focus on design phase for process engineering projects (required)
- Strong background with industrial equipment, electrical motors, and VFDs, power distribution, instrumentation, and process controls/automation (required)
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards (i.e., NFPA, IEEE, etc.) (required)
- Experience of participating in and managing multi-disciplinary project teams (required)
- Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills (required)
- Regular field work and overnight travel (required)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred)
