About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Civil and stormwater design and site layout for landfill and composting facilities
  • Engineering analyses such as slope stability, seismic design, foundation design, leachate and landfill gas modeling, and seepage
  • Preparation of permit documents such as Joint Technical Documents and closure plans, solid waste management permits, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, engineer’s cost estimates, and construction quality plans
  • Fieldwork associated with investigation, design and construction services
  • Project/task management
  • Understanding of local, state and federal regulations related to solid and hazardous wastes
  • Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geologic or geotechnical engineering (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or the ability to obtain P.E. registration within 1 year (preferred)
  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
  • Demonstrated strong interest in solid waste (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills (required)
  • Interaction with regulatory agencies (e.g., CalRecycle, State Departments of Environmental Quality or Health, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Department of Toxic Substances and Control) (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as Civil3D or Microstation and Slope/W (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required)
  • Available to travel for project-related work (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
