About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Civil and stormwater design and site layout for landfill and composting facilities
- Engineering analyses such as slope stability, seismic design, foundation design, leachate and landfill gas modeling, and seepage
- Preparation of permit documents such as Joint Technical Documents and closure plans, solid waste management permits, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, engineer’s cost estimates, and construction quality plans
- Fieldwork associated with investigation, design and construction services
- Project/task management
- Understanding of local, state and federal regulations related to solid and hazardous wastes
- Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geologic or geotechnical engineering (required)
- Advanced degree in the same (preferred)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or the ability to obtain P.E. registration within 1 year (preferred)
- At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
- Demonstrated strong interest in solid waste (required)
- Strong oral and technical writing skills (required)
- Interaction with regulatory agencies (e.g., CalRecycle, State Departments of Environmental Quality or Health, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Department of Toxic Substances and Control) (preferred)
- Experience with modeling/design tools such as Civil3D or Microstation and Slope/W (preferred)
- Excellent writing and communication skills (required)
- Available to travel for project-related work (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
