About the role
- Manage VI remediation and mitigation tasks/projects, including scope development, work planning, budget and schedule management, design implementation, subcontractor oversight, and client communication
- Develop VI conceptual site models (CSMs) and investigation/mitigation strategies
- Lead the preparation of VI work plans and technical memoranda
- Oversee pilot studies and full-scale VI mitigation/remediation implementation
- Prepare and review technical deliverables
- Support growth of a VI client base by leading proposal development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
- Mentor and support early career staff in technical delivery and project performance
- Conduct fieldwork as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred), geology, or earth science (required)
- Advanced degree in the same (preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) licensure (required)
- At least 7 years of direct environmental consulting experience with a focus on VI assessment and mitigation
- Strong technical foundation in remediation/engineering or geology
- Demonstrated competency in VI approaches and related remedial technologies
- Experience managing projects, including responsibility for resource allocation, quality, technical oversight, subcontractor/contractor coordination, and financial management
- Thorough understanding of CalEPA and USEPA regulations and guidance relevant to VI and remediation
- Experience mentoring and managing professional staff
- Excellent technical leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with VI data evaluation tools and approaches
- Self-starter with ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Field work and overnight travel may be required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
