About the role
- Business development, including bringing in new clients, obtaining repeat business, leading proposal preparation, and implementing business development plans
- Task and project management: planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability
- Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors
- Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing
- Data analysis and preparing maps and figures using GIS/EVS, and database management
- Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; review and manage written document production
- Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties
- Conduct fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction
- Direct multi-disciplinary project teams and take task/project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent assignments
- Support lead generation, staff development, mentoring, publishing, and visibility at industry conferences
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline (required)
- Advanced degree in related discipline (preferred)
- At least 7 years of direct environmental consulting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
- Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams (required)
- Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients (required)
- Proven leadership skills (required)
- Ability to handle multiple project assignments, meet strict deadlines, and travel to client facilities (required)
- Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel (required)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
- Experience with GIS/Environmental Visualization Software (EVS) and database management
- Experience with multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction
