About the role
- Fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, remediation system operation and monitoring, drilling, and contractor oversight
- Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools
- Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals
- Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, scientists (modelers, chemists, biologists), GIS and CADD professionals, office administrative staff, contractors and construction personnel
- Local travel or driving to project sites as needed
Requirements
- Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant discipline
- Degree focus area in environmental, civil, geotechnical, chemical, or water resources engineering preferred
- Highly qualified candidates in geology, natural sciences, or chemistry programs will be considered
- Experience with Microsoft Excel (required)
- Python, hydrological models (e.g., MODFLOW), GIS (e.g., ArcView), CADD (e.g., AutoCAD), and/or other software relevant to the field (preferred)
- Previous experience (academic or work-related) performing outdoor fieldwork (e.g., collecting samples and measurements, surveying, and/or light physical labor) in Arizona or similar climates (preferred)
- Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites (required)
- Reliable personal transportation
