About the role

  • Collaboration with peers, senior managers and other offices to ensure project success;
  • Ability to manage and adapt to changing scopes and schedules;
  • Develop feasibility studies and estimates through early site evaluation, preliminary ordinance and permitting research, and environmental due diligence research;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and stormwater management design;
  • Erosion and sediment control design;
  • Site, grading, drainage, utility, transportation, landscape and detail design;
  • Strong ability to understand topographical surveys and contour grading;
  • Develop construction documentation, site plans, calculations packages, SWPPPs and bid documents;
  • Support flood mitigation studies with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, benefit-cost alternatives analysis and other tasks as necessary.
  • Support public-sector stormwater improvement projects with planning and design phases.
  • Support dam projects with engineering design, dam breach modeling, dam safety permitting, Emergency Action Plans (EAP’s) and dam rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or related engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional engineering (P.E.) registration (preferred)
  • At least 5 (7+ preferred) years of experience in a civil engineering consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • AutoDesk ® Civil 3D ® , HydroCAD ® , and Bentley Flowmaster, CulvertMaster (required);
  • StormCAD (preferred)
  • Bentley Microstation ® ,ESRI TM ArcGIS, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HY8. (preferred)
  • An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving stormwater regulatory/NPDES compliance, local ordinance compliance. (preferred)
  • Project experience with public-sector stormwater improvement projects. (required)
  • Experience working on demanding, schedule-driven, and/or legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
  • Experience with Dam Breach modeling and Emergency Action Plans (EAP’s). (required)
  • Detailed North & South Carolina stormwater regulatory knowledge, (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Travel to sites and localities. (required).
  • Health & Safety training may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
