About the role

  • Assist with sample collection of diverse materials including soil, sediment, water, and air for environmental tests
  • Compile construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data related to landfill and environmental remediation construction projects
  • Provide neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all field-related activities to senior level project personnel
  • Provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base
  • Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, and other materials primarily associated with landfill and/or waste containment system construction
  • Monitor activities on job sites to assure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans, etc.)
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings
  • Perform tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college and a minimum of two (2) years of applicable experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel
  • Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization
  • Strong mathematical background with the ability to perform calculations in basic geometry and use of algebra
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software programs
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls
  • Ability to spend the workday standing and walking across construction sites when needed
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing (e.g., emails) with peers, subcontractors, supervisors, and clients to report findings, convey ideas and explain observations
