About the role
- Coordinate and lead all aspects of the competitive proposal preparation – from Go/No-Go strategy and initial planning through delivery and post-award, including internal and client debriefs on wins or losses;
- Review and hone messages/win themes within written and visual information for client presentations; identify appropriate story-boarding of proposal/quals layout;
- Draft content such as introduction, win themes, proof statements, relevant experience, project teams/organizational charts;
- Overall responsibility for proposal/SOQ criteria and compliance, oversee production, and arrange for on-time deliveries;
- Develop scheduling and tracking systems for individual pursuit and proposal elements and be responsible for distribution & receiving input from key technical leads and decision makers;
- Develop systems to extract, categorize, and retrieve information related to markets, clients, consultants, personnel, projects, prior proposals, boilerplate, visuals, and mailing lists;
- Identify BD leaders and help connect seller-doers across disciplines, and branches, and/or business development initiatives;
- Track business development opportunities via Client Relationship Management system (CRM);
- Assist technical and marketing leads with research related to prior pursuit RFP/evaluation panel questions-answers as well as gather information on potential client projects;
- In partnership with marketing managers/teams and subject matter experts, develop qualification, proposal, and presentation messaging and content;
- Work with Branch Managers and region leads to identify reviewers and coordinate quality control efforts for BD processes;
- Assist with seller-doer training and mentoring activities related to marketing and proposals;
- Work with technical leads on improving targeted client relationships/tracking needs and market growth initiatives;
- Identify areas where creation/refresh of branding/marketing materials is needed such as flyers, brochures, and statements of qualifications to support targeted business development efforts;
- Oversee staff in managing routine marketing collateral (e.g., keeping key task schedules on-track, and resumes and project descriptions up to date);
- Develop branded presentations with targeted messaging;
- Under guidance from Branch technical and marketing teams, conduct targeted market research to understand preferences of target audiences, drivers/competitors/opportunities Identify marketing candidates for both office and local-regional needs;
- Analyze research data related to clients; competitors; past, current, and prospective markets; present findings to leadership.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or public relations with four (4) years or more progressive professional experience in engineering, architecture, or commercial construction; or eight (8) years of directly related experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position. (required)
- SMPS and/or Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) memberships. (preferred)
- Prior experience leading proposal teams. (required)
- Working knowledge of the following Microsoft Office is required: Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, Word, Teams, and SharePoint. Adobe InDesign experience is required. (required)
- Familiarity with graphic design and production, desktop publishing, and presentation software. (preferred)
- Possess an understanding and/or experience of (i) the RFQ/RFP process, (ii) techniques associated with the evaluation of promotional activities, (iii) federal, state and local procurement procedures, and (iv) activities associated with the development and evaluation of marketing plans and their effectiveness. (required)
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret marketing, technical, and other business documents. (required)
- Ability to interview technical practitioners for marketing materials and proposals. (required)
- Ability to author marketing materials and correspondence that is well written and organized, clearly presented, focused on the subject at hand, and furthers the Geosyntec “brand”. (required)
- Ability to create effective presentations and respond to inquiries from internal and external clients. (required)
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. (required)
- Ability to write in a marketing and/or journalistic manner. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (preferred)
