About the role
- Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements and design solutions that align with engineering standards and support business needs.
- Design, implement, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters in on-premises (physical and virtualised) environments.
- Take ownership of systems engineering projects related to OpenShift infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and optimize deployment and release workflows.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using OpenShift and associated DevOps tools.
- Automate operational and deployment tasks using Ansible and other scripting tools.
- Perform patching and upgrades of OpenShift clusters, ArgoCD, GitLab CI, and related components in compliance with change-management procedures.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and redundancy strategies.
- Participate in on-call / standby rotation to support critical platform and infrastructure services and ensure service continuity.
- Support daily operations including trend analysis, root cause analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of platform issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including RBAC, vulnerability management, and compliance controls.
- Improve alerting, monitoring, and observability capabilities across OpenShift and related systems.
- When OpenShift-related workload is limited, perform general system administration activities, including Linux server administration, infrastructure maintenance, and support of data center services as part of the infrastructure team.
- Produce and maintain up-to-date documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and runbooks.
- Provide knowledge transfer, mentoring, and training to colleagues on OpenShift, GitLab, and related infrastructure technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and at least four (4) years of relevant experience; or equivalent professional certifications (including Red Hat OpenShift training) with at least five (5) years of experience.
- Proven experience deploying, operating, and maintaining OpenShift and GitLab CI platforms.
- Experience in deploying and maintaining OpenShift and GitLab CI platforms
- Proficiency with Ansible and infrastructure automation practices.
- Solid experience in Linux system administration within enterprise or datacenter environments.
- Ability to document architectures, configurations, and standards, and to develop/maintain SOPs and training materials.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Will be an advantage Knowledge of ITIL Service Operations principles.
- Experience with ArgoCD, monitoring/observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.), or disaster recovery tooling (optional but valuable).
