About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Champion and oversee Thousand Currents’ values-aligned organizational learning approach and framework
- Partner with the Executive Team to build systems, culture, and practices that foster learning and demonstrate impact
- Refine learning systems, tools, processes, and the online Learning Platform
- Define annual priorities and budget for the Learning & Impact function
- Develop methodologies, standards, processes, and tools for data collection, analysis, collective sensemaking, and adaptation
- Integrate data and learning practices across teams and maintain annual information-aggregation rhythms
- Support data gathering from grantee partners and lead quality control and analysis
- Steward responsible data practices across the organization
- Guide compelling stories and strategic dissemination of learning with the Communications Team
- Build relationships and facilitate organization-wide reflections, collective sensemaking, and team-based reflection
- Provide technical assistance to teams embedding learning systems and practices
- Support evidence- and data-based decision-making and organizational performance review
- Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members
- Manage staff policies, workloads, collaboration, and team support
- Participate in staff meetings, retreats, trainings, organizational activities, fundraising drives, and annual events
- Manage regular administration, receipts, reimbursements, scheduling, travel planning, filing, and HR paperwork
- Model Thousand Currents’ values and contribute to a positive organizational culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of senior-level experience leading learning, evaluation, applied research, or a closely related field
- Experience in social justice philanthropy, movement-aligned organizations, applied research institutions, or comparable settings
- Knowledge of one or more thematic areas including food sovereignty, agroecology, energy democracy, climate justice, stewardship of the commons, or economic justice
- Experience partnering with social justice and movement formations, especially in the global majority
- Track record developing and implementing processes that advance rigor and learning across an organization
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships of trust and effective collaboration
- Strong project management experience and excellent organizational skills
- Experience with CRM and/or knowledge management systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts
- Experience leading major analytical and knowledge products, including strategic reflections, evaluations, retrospective studies, and case studies
- Strong facilitation skills and experience designing spaces for collective sensemaking and reflection
- Flexibility, creativity, and ability to contribute at strategic and tactical levels
- Humility, self-awareness, accessibility, intellectual curiosity, and genuine team orientation
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, geographically dispersed, culturally diverse team across multiple time zones
- Availability to travel up to 10% of the time
