New Product Introduction Engineer
ThorlabsNPI Engineer responsible for transferring new products to manufacturing while ensuring LEAN compliance. Collaborating with teams to ensure successful product launch and adherence to quality standards.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- - Coordinate activities for the transfer of new products into manufacturing.
- - Close collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing and quality as part of the project lifecycle and post release of a product.
- - Ensure PPAP compliance, including First Article Inspection (FAI).
- - DFM and DFA analysis with manufacturing & engineering to meet LEAN manufacturing requirements.
- - Development and implementation of new procedures/ equipment for manufacturing.
- - Writing SOP and training manufacturing team according to SOP and follow-up on potential issues even post release.
- - Monitor process after release to verify DFA and DFM analysis as part of Kaizen activities.
- - Designing & manufacturing jigs and packaging designs for new products and equipment using SolidWorks, manufacturing machines and FDM printers.
Requirements
What you’ll need- - University degree or technician with extensive experience.
- - Around 5 years of professional experience, ideally within photonics or a related high-tech environment.
- - German C1 and English B2.
- - Experience with (optical) metrology equipment, eg. Interferometer.
- - A solid understanding of LEAN principles (e.g., Kaizen, Muda, 5S) and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- - Positive, open-minded and collaborative personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- - Willingness to travel to other Thorlbas entities as required.
