About the role
- Provide expert level technical support by solving complex problems, troubleshooting, and guiding customers to product solutions for their applications and experiments.
- Reproduce complex set ups and create technical solutions in the lab.
- Support Marketing and Sales activities by attending Tradeshows and Customer visits.
- Develop Marketing Materials such as test data, white papers, or video for use on our website or through other distribution channels.
- Provide high level technical support via phone, web chat & email to customers worldwide.
- Participate in product improvement and new product development via Thorlabs product development forum.
- Provide feedback to internal marketing and design/manufacturing teams to refine customer requirements.
- Assist with creation and reporting of group KPIs and data metrics and participate in resource scheduling.
- Conduct training of internal tool usage, logistics, operational principles, and applications and mentor new team members.
Requirements
- 4 plus years of Photonics product and applications support experience working with customers in optics, mechanics, lasers, and other photonics components or systems.
- BSc, MSc or PhD degree in Optics, Physics or a related Engineering field or equivalent work experience.
- Specialized knowledge of Photonics and Laser Technology via work or laboratory experience.
- Strong communication proficiency and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask, show attention to details, and to solve multi-disciplinary problems under time constraints.
- Ability to develop and communicate dept. goals in support of Thorlabs' mission and responds to all interactions in a positive manner.
- Demonstrates strong sense of ownership.
- Eagerness to learn about new technologies, process, and business models.
- Desire to act as a team leader; demonstrates interest and skillsets to successfully foster positive team mentality
- Work schedule may be staggered times to cover our 8am–8pm hours of operation.
- Opportunities to travel to tradeshows, other Thorlabs manufacturing facilities (foreign and domestic), and training events on and off site.
