About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and execute the product engineering strategy, aligning with overall business objectives and market needs
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines
- Manage and mentor a diverse team of software engineers and project managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Develop and manage the product engineering budget, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring cost-effectiveness
- Lead change management initiatives within the engineering organization, effectively communicating changes and ensuring smooth transitions
- Drive group problem-solving efforts, leveraging diverse perspectives to overcome technical challenges and deliver innovative solutions
- Influence stakeholders across various departments, including product management, sales, and marketing, to ensure alignment and successful product delivery
- Inspire and motivate the engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting professional growth
- Negotiate with vendors and partners to secure resources, technologies, and services essential for product development
- Ensure efficient project delivery, utilizing methodologies such as the Waterfall Model where appropriate, and consistently meeting project milestones and deliverables
- Oversee the continuous improvement of software development processes and practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 18+ years of overall experience and at least 12 years of leadership experience
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within product engineering or software development
- Extensive experience with Budget Management and financial oversight for engineering departments
- Demonstrated expertise in Change Management within a dynamic technological environment
- Exceptional Communication, Influencing, and Negotiation skills
- Strong ability in Group Problem Solving and leading teams to successful resolutions
- A track record of being Inspirational, motivating, and developing high-performing teams
- Expertise in People Management, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
- Demonstrated success in Project Delivery, consistently bringing products to market on time and within budget
- Deep understanding of Software Development principles and practices
- Extensive experience in Software Engineering, including architecture, design, and implementation
- Familiarity with various project management methodologies, including the Waterfall Model
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
