About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop commercial legal and compliance content of national and global significance for Practical Law online services
- Write and edit standard form documents, practice guidance notes, and checklists in accordance with Practical Law writing style
- Assist in editorial development of Practical Law and Thomson Reuters products, including Global and AI initiatives
- Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors
- Write and edit content for Practical Law The Journal
- Monitor current developments and legal issues in commercial contracting and practice
- Update existing content and develop new legal resources
- Build relationships with private-practice lawyers, in-house counsel, and legal professional groups
- Support AI initiatives by training AI for product use and validating model performance
- Support product development and sales and marketing teams
- Conduct customer sales demonstrations and webinars
- Respond to subscriber inquiries about Practical Law resources
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of eight years' experience working as a lawyer in a law firm or as in-house counsel
- Understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys and in-house counsel
- Expertise in a variety of commercial transactional and regulatory matters, including one or more listed areas
- Strong project management skills and ability to balance multiple tasks
- Skill and passion for writing
- Close attention to detail
- Impressive command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English
- Ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply
- Ability to collaborate with and support team members
- Flexibility to support product development, sales, and marketing activities
- Ability to conduct sales demonstrations and webinars as requested
- Ability to respond to subscriber inquiries regarding Practical Law resources
- Writing sample required for candidates selected for a second interview
