About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure delivery of safety management services consistent with company SOPs/WPDs, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee department operations, safety processes, resource utilization, scope of work, budget, and contractual issues
- Develop processes and strategies to meet departmental and company goals
- Oversee compliance with company policies, procedures, and global regulations
- Guide managers and train project team members
- Assist business development and foster client relationships
- Prepare department business development presentations for clients
- Review and provide operational input on budgets, proposals, contracts, and renewals
- Manage experienced professional staff, including hiring, development, performance management, coaching, mentoring, counseling, and separations
- Approve salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and termination actions
- Review and approve time records, expense reports, leave requests, and overtime
- Develop and maintain departmental SOPs/WPDs and long-range plans for processes and staffing
- Prepare business proposals and client presentations
- Liaise with Business Development and Bids and Contracts groups
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification
- 10+ years of comparable experience providing job knowledge, skills, and abilities
- 5+ years of management responsibility
- Proven leadership skills
- Equivalent combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience may satisfy requirements
- Expertise in global regulatory requirements for adverse event reporting
- Expertise in ICH safety guidelines and GC requirements
- Knowledge of safety database management
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal management
- Analytical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple issues across multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to make independent decisions and solve problems
- Ability to act as liaison with other divisions to complete contract and regulatory requirements
- Strong negotiating skills
- Ability to analyze and evaluate processes and procedures
