About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build application- and modality-based storytelling frameworks that connect customer needs, scientific trends, workflow challenges, and Thermo Fisher capabilities across multiple business units
- Develop clear narrative architectures, messaging pillars, proof points, and activation guidance for priority research areas, workflows, applications, and modalities
- Translate complex scientific, technical, and portfolio information into cohesive stories for campaigns, content, web, events, sales enablement, thought leadership, and commercial programs
- Serve as a divisional connector and cross-company storytelling partner, identifying synergies across business units and helping teams move from product-centric messaging to integrated, science-led narratives
- Partner with business unit marketing, portfolio marketing, integrated marketing, commercial, R&D, application science, and external agency teams to align on audience needs, claims, evidence, content priorities, and activation opportunities
- Use customer, market, competitive, and portfolio insights to shape storytelling priorities and ensure narratives are relevant, differentiated, and commercially meaningful
- Assess existing content, claims, scientific evidence, and portfolio assets to identify gaps, duplication, and opportunities to strengthen campaign readiness
- Create repeatable tools, templates, and processes that enable marketing teams to build and activate cross-portfolio stories consistently
- Support pilot activation plans, including content recommendations, channel considerations, commercial enablement needs, and success metrics
- Influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization, driving alignment, clarity, and momentum around priority application and modality stories
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline required
- 5+ years of experience in life sciences marketing, scientific communications, portfolio marketing, content strategy, campaign strategy, or a related role within life sciences, biotechnology, diagnostics, biopharma, or scientific products
- Strong scientific and application-level understanding, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives for scientific and commercial audiences
- Experience developing marketing strategies, messaging frameworks, content strategies, or integrated campaigns across multiple products, workflows, or business units
- Ability to analyze customer, market, competitor, and portfolio inputs to identify strategic storytelling opportunities
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, including the ability to influence without authority and align stakeholders in a matrixed organization
- Experience partnering with agencies and managing strategic deliverables from brief through executional handoff
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and project management skills
