About the role
- Ensure that all import and export activities align with applicable laws and regulations, minimizing the risk of fines and penalties.
- Classify products accurately according to commodity codes and Dual-Use regulations.
- Facilitate import transactions, including coordinating imports from outside the EU/UK and providing classification details and instructions to freight forwarders.
- Collaborate with internal departments and functions to ensure trade compliance procedures are updated and consistently followed.
- Liaise and consult with internal and external customers to provide guidance and support on trade compliance matters.
- Support the company’s compliance program by participating in internal and external audits.
- Lead communications and activities related to external customs audits, including collaborating closely with customs authorities.
- Promote trade compliance awareness across the business through training and guidance initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of commodity code classification, with a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience classifying a wide range of goods and product families.
- Confirmed experience in import and export operations within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in managing partnerships, demonstrating effective communication with both internal and external clients.
- Experience working with customs authorities.
- Familiarity with export licensing procedures.
