About the role

  • Define and execute the global commodity strategy for Particle Optics products and services, aligning with corporate and divisional goals for growth, innovation, and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain high-value supplier relationships, ensuring access to innovation, supply assurance, and competitive advantage.
  • Lead global RFPs, contract negotiations, and supplier selection, ensuring best-in-class quality, delivery, and total cost of ownership.
  • Utilize market intelligence, customer insights, and trend analysis to identify risks and opportunities within the supply base and proactively adjust strategy.
  • Partner with R&D, Operations, Product Management, and Commercial teams to align category strategies with business needs and technology roadmaps.
  • Drive supplier performance management, setting KPIs, facilitating business reviews, and ensuring continuous improvement across quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration to ensure procurement activities support operational excellence, product innovation, and financial performance.
  • Leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making, improve process efficiency, and strengthen supplier risk management.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, and high performance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing category insights, market outlooks, and recommendations that shape long-term business strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related technical field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive procurement or sourcing experience in a global, matrixed environment
  • Significant experience managing a major commodity or category, including strategic sourcing, supplier management, and global contract negotiation
  • 5+ years in a leadership capacity, leading teams or cross-functional initiatives across multiple regions
  • Proven success leading strategic sourcing initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings, risk reduction, and innovation
  • Strong executive presence and influencing skills — able to partner with senior leaders and drive alignment across functions
  • Exceptional negotiation and supplier relationship management capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge of category management frameworks, supply market analysis, and cost modeling
  • Ability to make sound decisions in complex, ambiguous, or rapidly changing environments
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
  • Global experience and multicultural awareness preferred.
