About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build high-performance, stable, scalable systems for enterprise deployment
  • Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions
  • Author and provide feedback on technical proposals and root cause analyses
  • Establish team standards to drive quality and excellence
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and support production incidents
  • Mentor and advise other engineers
  • Participate in the DSS technical community through presentations, tech talks, and knowledge-sharing efforts
  • Develop backend media playback services supporting media selection, device customization, and antipiracy technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of related experience crafting backend architectures and delivering backend applications in production
  • Validated knowledge of operating large-scale, high-availability backend services and JVM services
  • Expertise in functional programming patterns and building RESTful Scala APIs
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming models and threading/concurrency
  • Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, databases, design patterns, and design principles
  • Experience with a public cloud provider such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Understanding of source control systems and CI/CD pipelines; exposure to Git
  • Experience with Jenkins and Docker
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, or Grafana
  • Knowledge of caching technologies
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-learning ability, independence, and excellent problem-solving skills
