About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build high-performance, stable, scalable systems for enterprise deployment
Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions
Author and provide feedback on technical proposals and root cause analyses
Establish team standards to drive quality and excellence
Participate in the on-call rotation and support production incidents
Mentor and advise other engineers
Participate in the DSS technical community through presentations, tech talks, and knowledge-sharing efforts
Develop backend media playback services supporting media selection, device customization, and antipiracy technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience
5+ years of related experience crafting backend architectures and delivering backend applications in production
Validated knowledge of operating large-scale, high-availability backend services and JVM services
Expertise in functional programming patterns and building RESTful Scala APIs
Understanding of asynchronous programming models and threading/concurrency
Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, databases, design patterns, and design principles
Experience with a public cloud provider such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
Understanding of source control systems and CI/CD pipelines; exposure to Git
Experience with Jenkins and Docker
Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS
Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, or Grafana
Knowledge of caching technologies
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-learning ability, independence, and excellent problem-solving skills
