About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a cross-platform mobile team building innovative experiences on Disney+
  • Manage iOS and Android engineers delivering features for content discovery and consumption on mobile devices
  • Partner with product, design, backend, and data science teams to deliver polished, performant experiences at massive consumer scale
  • Support team members across iOS and Android platforms and foster a culture of inclusivity, productivity, and growth
  • Meet regularly with direct reports and guide their career development
  • Build and grow a high-performing cross-platform team and recruit top talent
  • Lead delivery of features spanning content playback, presentation, navigation, and personalization
  • Provide technical guidance while focusing on team health, delivery, and cross-functional alignment
  • Identify project, people, and organizational challenges and facilitate solutions
  • Improve engineering processes and help the team navigate ambiguity and evolving product requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent job experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to ensure effective growth and development of team
  • 5+ years of production experience with at least one major mobile platform (iOS with Swift/SwiftUI or Android with Kotlin)
  • Experience with mobile application development lifecycle and software delivery practices
  • Significant experience leading teams and managing people
  • History of writing high-quality code, tests, and documentation
  • Ability to successfully manage teams dispersed amongst multiple time zones
  • Proven experience in monitoring, supporting, and improving application availability and reliability
  • Demonstrated successful partnership with cross-functional counterparts including product, design, and backend
  • Exemplify diversity, inclusion, and belonging in leadership
  • Ability to navigate complex corporate environments and influence key stakeholders and partners
  • Preferred: Experience with both iOS and Android development ecosystems
  • Preferred: Experience with video playback technologies and media frameworks (AVFoundation, ExoPlayer, or similar)
  • Preferred: Experience with short-form or feed-based content experiences
  • Preferred: Well-versed in mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Composable Architecture, or similar)
  • Preferred: Experience recruiting, developing, and leading teams in the streaming or media field
  • Preferred: Experience working on systems at a massive consumer scale
  • Preferred: Experience working with global/distributed teams
  • Preferred: Familiarity with content recommendation systems or personalization features
  • Preferred: Experience with mobile performance optimization and instrumentation
