About the role

  • Support the line manager in driving positive sales and developing new, trend-led Own Brand Boys ranges (3 months–16 years)
  • Work on Casual, Jersey, Leisure, Wovens, Knits and Denim lines
  • Think like a buyer when developing best seller updates and push for newness within the range
  • Day-to-day communication with core supply chain to adhere to milestones in the critical path
  • Assist in fabric sourcing, designing proto samples, fit approvals, print and lab dip approvals
  • Create technical design briefs for sample development across kids, menswear and licence teams
  • Assist in range planning alongside buying and merchandising; prepare for sign-offs
  • Monitor market, competitor activity, catwalk trends and customer/brand DNA when designing ranges
  • Process and communicate critical feedback to suppliers; amend styles appropriately
  • Ensure weekly checks of best and worst sellers, customer feedback, trade and online product awareness
  • Build strong relationships internally and externally to maximise commercial opportunities
  • Work across London and Liverpool offices with occasional monthly travel between sites

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a design role is essential (ideally minimum of 3 years within a retailer or brand)
  • Previous experience in designing boyswear (own-brand ranges for 3 months–16 years)
  • Experience on designing casual, jersey or athletic leisure / sports
  • Competency/proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Excel
  • Technical design experience: fabric sourcing, proto samples, fit approvals, print & lab dip approvals
  • Experience producing technical design briefs for sample development (kids, menswear and licence teams)
  • Proven experience of building relationships internally, externally & internationally; working cross-functionally and collaboratively
  • Ability to ‘think like a buyer’ when developing ranges and update best sellers
  • Problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • May be required to undertake credit, CIFAS and DBS checks if successful
