About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to a specified population
  • Establish goals and priorities according to patient, staff, and organizational needs
  • Provide consultation and advice as a highly specialized practitioner
  • Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans; implement treatment, follow-up, and evaluate patients within scope-of-practice protocols
  • Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care and write appropriate orders
  • Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Conduct patient histories and physical examinations and document findings
  • Notify attending, house, or supervising physicians about unusual or unexpected events requiring consultation
  • Practice safety, environmental, and infection-control methods
  • Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to provide comprehensive and continuous care
  • Guide, teach, support, and serve as a nursing and/or medical staff resource
  • Document patient care, orders, directives, procedures, and patient responses in confidential medical records
  • Provide health education to patients, families, community health practitioners, and groups
  • May train and supervise medical residents and support staff
  • May perform clinical research related to specific operations
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant accredited program
  • No minimum experience required in Family Practice
  • One year of related experience in specialty areas
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing, or Physician Assistant licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Prescriptive authority from the State of New Mexico
  • Federal DEA certification
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers with hands-on training; must be obtained within 30 calendar days of hire
  • ACLS or PALS, if applicable, within 30 days of hire
  • Verification of education and licensure, if applicable, required if selected for hire
