About the role
- Responsible for providing equal access to deaf/hard of hearing patients and their families/significant others by interpreting in American Sign Language.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, coordinating with multiple departments/entities to make the best use of time and resources.
- Provides relief during lengthy assignments, covering for lunch breaks, completing confirmations and day end tasks as well as completing assigned projects that will benefit the team.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university AND 1 or more years of demonstrated medical interpreting experience OR 5 or more years of demonstrated medical interpreting experience.
- Certification through Kansas Quality Assurance Screening at Level 4 (Interpreting) and Level 4 (Transliterating) or above, or Missouri Certification - Advanced Level or above, or National Interpreter Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
