About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Demonstrate a passion for helping students achieve their goals, applying disciplinary and professional knowledge in effective practices in teaching, assessment, and student engagement for online, asynchronous courses.
- Deliver high-quality, engaging online instruction.
- Connect the learning experience to workforce skills and professional advancement.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for adult learners.
- Prioritize student learning, achievement, and timely feedback.
- Maintain strong communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Ensure academic integrity and uphold university policies.
- Collaborate with academic support teams to enhance student experience.
- Review and provide feedback on doctoral research projects, including research, design, analyses, writing, and oral presentations.
- Oversee and prepare students for their preliminary and final oral defenses.
- Support student IRB applications and research alignment.
- Support a 'quality at scale' online education model by leveraging centralized curriculum design to ensure consistency, rigor, and excellence across all course sections.
- Develop and improve courses and innovative teaching practices in collaboration with instructional designers, assessment specialists, and other experts.
- Review, support, and mentor instructional quality of associate faculty.
- Attend and actively participate in department, college, and university meetings.
- Engage in shared governance activities and committees.
- Participate in search and hiring committees.
- Support accreditation and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Doctorate in psychology
- Three years of online teaching and learning experience, including curriculum development and assessment strategies
- Three to five years of practical professional work experience in a relevant field
- Commitment to departmental and university collegiality through engagement in service activities
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple responsibilities within a flexible, evolving work environment
- Experience contributing to a strategic vision, increasing student success, and fostering growth is preferred
- Experience with qualitative or quantitative research
- Experience working with adult, non-traditional, and post-traditional learners is preferred
- At least three years of undergraduate teaching experience in Health Psychology; actual course assignments may vary depending on departmental needs
- At least three years of graduate-level teaching experience in psychology
- Ability to teach graduate courses in Psychopharmacology, Physiological Psychology, Research Design & Methods; actual course assignments may vary depending on departmental needs.
