About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct covert, plain‑clothes surveillance in high‑risk stores and retail precincts to identify recidivist offenders and organised retail crime activity.
  • Maintain personal and team safety at all times, adhering to TJX safety protocols and legal guidelines for observation and reporting.
  • Ensure a discreet, professional presence to avoid confrontation and minimise operational risk.
  • Immediately escalate incidents involving violence, aggression, or associate safety concerns to the ORC Supervisor and Police.
  • Observe and accurately document offender behaviour, modus operandi, and concealment techniques, maintaining detailed notes and evidence logs.
  • Communicate real‑time intelligence to Police and ORC teams via approved channels to support safe apprehension outside store premises.
  • Support ORC investigations through witness statements, CCTV referencing, and compliant evidence handling and chain‑of‑custody processes.
  • Assist in developing local intelligence packages and offender profiles for ORC reporting systems.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Police and centre security teams.
  • Provide actionable intelligence to support shrink reduction strategies and targeted ORC interventions.
  • Contribute to ORC KPI reporting, case file preparation, court‑ready documentation, and continuous improvement of covert operations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in loss prevention, security, or investigations.
  • Strong understanding of retail theft and organised crime behaviours.
  • Excellent observation, documentation, and communication skills.
  • High integrity, discretion, and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with LP systems (e.g. Auror, Resolver, CCTV) and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Australian Security Licence (or ability to obtain and maintain);
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
