About the role

  • Responsible for defining team product backlog of user stories/features, including backlog prioritization, refinement, and creating of acceptance criteria (incl. Definition of Done)
  • Partner with the Product Manager to understand customer needs, pain points, workflows, priorities, etc. to translate those into PI features that drive the program increment objectives
  • Drives iteration goals and content via prioritized user stories
  • Expresses product/domain knowledge that guides, informs, and provides insight on what product enhancements, maintenance, and efficiencies are needed
  • Product decision maker including functional and NFRs; accepts users stories and iteration increments
  • Partner with Product Manager on impact analysis for optimal product delivery, customer/industry trends, etc.
  • Contributes to the vision, roadmap, and ROI
  • Voice-of-the-customer for teams, including being the liaison between the business and the team
  • Ensure risk and dependencies are identified and managed
  • Responsible for consultative partnering and stakeholder management
  • Uses metrics to assess team progress and areas for improvement
  • Prepares and presents the system demo; participates in release train ceremonies
  • Solicits feedback from customers and the team for possible inclusion in future activities
  • Enables the team to be empowered and self-regulated, by educating the team on functional knowledge required to execute on sprint and PI goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent engineering skillset, training, or functional work experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a product owner
  • Proven success working a highly collaborative, matrix environment, with a track record of measurable business impact
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and mentorship skills
  • Practiced consultative partnership with customers, with the ability to translate functional needs into requirements that drive value
  • Hands on experience participating in and leading SAFe events, such as sprint planning, release planning, and PI planning
  • Strong working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks.
