About the role
- Responsible for defining team product backlog of user stories/features, including backlog prioritization, refinement, and creating of acceptance criteria (incl. Definition of Done)
- Partner with the Product Manager to understand customer needs, pain points, workflows, priorities, etc. to translate those into PI features that drive the program increment objectives
- Drives iteration goals and content via prioritized user stories
- Expresses product/domain knowledge that guides, informs, and provides insight on what product enhancements, maintenance, and efficiencies are needed
- Product decision maker including functional and NFRs; accepts users stories and iteration increments
- Partner with Product Manager on impact analysis for optimal product delivery, customer/industry trends, etc.
- Contributes to the vision, roadmap, and ROI
- Voice-of-the-customer for teams, including being the liaison between the business and the team
- Ensure risk and dependencies are identified and managed
- Responsible for consultative partnering and stakeholder management
- Uses metrics to assess team progress and areas for improvement
- Prepares and presents the system demo; participates in release train ceremonies
- Solicits feedback from customers and the team for possible inclusion in future activities
- Enables the team to be empowered and self-regulated, by educating the team on functional knowledge required to execute on sprint and PI goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent engineering skillset, training, or functional work experience
- 3+ years of experience as a product owner
- Proven success working a highly collaborative, matrix environment, with a track record of measurable business impact
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and mentorship skills
- Practiced consultative partnership with customers, with the ability to translate functional needs into requirements that drive value
- Hands on experience participating in and leading SAFe events, such as sprint planning, release planning, and PI planning
- Strong working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks.
