About the role
- Oversee all the bank’s accounting functions and provide growth strategies
- Direct all financial activities including reporting, planning, supervision, and investments
- Assist Executive Team with forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
- Prepare and/or coordinate preparation of annual tax returns and financial statements
- Prepare business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and regulatory reports
- Serve as member or Chairman of the bank’s ALCO committee
- Supervise staff performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting
- Maintain knowledge of organizational policies, federal/state directives, and current accounting standards
- Conduct or coordinate audits to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
- Authorize and record disbursements according to company policies
- Monitor financial activities and reserve levels to meet legal and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and evaluate accounting and financial staff performance; recommend personnel actions
- Coordinate financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities
- Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget, cash/credit management, and accounting
- Analyze financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify opportunities and improvements
- Evaluate funding needs and investment of surpluses and make recommendations
- Lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management areas
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from a four-year college or university required (Master’s Degree Preferred)
- CPA designation preferred
- Four or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient in PC software such as Excel, Word, and Access
- Excellent attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening, and written
- Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve highly complex financial problems
