About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key policyholders and producers
  • Build and maintain relationships through regular on-site visits, proactive communication, negotiation, and problem resolution
  • Act as liaison between clients and home office departments
  • Initiate plan improvements and resolve administrative inconsistencies
  • Meet face-to-face with clients before renewals to review claims and contracts and recommend changes
  • Manage the amendment process for assigned accounts
  • Partner with sales representatives and underwriters on renewal activity and customized retention strategies
  • Gather underwriting data, review claims experience, assess renewal actions, and prepare renewal summaries
  • Negotiate rates, contract provisions, and administrative issues with Regional or National Accounts
  • Promote additional lines of coverage and plan improvements
  • Request and review in-force proposal requests and present proposals to brokers and policyholders
  • Support acquisition, submission, and implementation of National Accounts and Regional Accounts cases over 500 lives
  • Lead and coordinate submission, setup, and installation of assigned new groups
  • Support new administrators at assigned in-force accounts
  • Facilitate enrollment processes, including preparing materials, conducting enrollment meetings, and attending benefit fairs
  • Develop and maintain an account management strategy supporting business growth, profitability, and client retention

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Living in one of the listed states DC, VA, MD, NC SC is a requirement of the role
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in group insurance account management in the 2500+ lives space
  • Life and Disability insurance license for all states within the office’s assigned territory
  • Personal automobile available for business use with adequate insurance and a safe driving record
  • Ability to travel within territory for face-to-face client and broker meetings when requested
  • Ability to develop and manage relationships with key policyholders and producers
  • Professional negotiation, responsive communication, problem resolution, and customer expectation management
  • Ability to analyze claims experience and contracts and recommend coverage or contractual changes
  • Ability to gather underwriting data and prepare renewal summaries and strategies
  • Ability to negotiate rates, contract provisions, and administrative issues
  • Ability to identify and promote additional coverage options and plan improvements
  • Ability to review in-force proposal requests and present proposals
  • Ability to facilitate enrollment processes, enrollment meetings, and benefit fairs
