About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Help facilitate and foster sound underwriting and business decisions
  • Develop effective relationships and contribute toward the growth of the underwriting department
  • Oversee day-to-day production activities of the team, training and developing the underwriters
  • Regular communication between our sales organization and other parts of the organization
  • Apply sound and creative underwriting and business judgments to contribute to organizational growth and profitability
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with assigned field personnel, producers, and internal teams
  • Actively participate in projects and provide team members to participate in projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business is preferred, additional experience in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in a leadership position.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Life, Absence, and Disability underwriting, preferably in national accounts
  • Strong leadership experience and proven ability to understand, mentor, and guide the intricate work of a high-performing underwriting team.
  • Proven ability to partner with and meet the expectations of sales partners and brokers using strong interpersonal relationship skills and business acumen.
