About the role

  • Support the management of vessel data pipelines - in close collaboration with engineers and data analysts - to ensure our dataset is continuously updated.
  • Contribute to evaluating new data sources and setting up ETLs to enhance our vessel particulars dataset.
  • Collaborate closely with the squad dev lead, engineers, and analysts to translate technical needs into clear product requirements.
  • Work with Sales and other client-facing teams to gather feedback, understand client requests, and help prioritise enhancements to the Vessels API.
  • Assist in defining and refining processes to improve data quality, monitoring, and resilience against noisy or inconsistent sources.
  • Monitor data quality through automated checks and offline processes, escalating or resolving errors as needed.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of shipping concepts (vessel types, particulars, sanctions, ownership) and their connections to wider models in Signal.
  • Help ensure seamless insertion of new-builds into the system.
  • Document workflows and maintain organised product backlogs to support effective team execution.

Requirements

  • Initial experience as a Product Manager, preferably in or around **data platforms**.
  • Strong analytical skills with **attention to detail** and a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Good technical skills - **SQL** required; Python familiarity strongly preferred.
  • Excellent **organisational and collaboration skills,** with a willingness to learn from and support team members.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work with and reason about noisy data.
  • Curiosity about shipping, data-intensive products, and APIs, and eagerness to grow into a deeper understanding of vessel particulars and related workflows.
