About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee several Christmas Kettle locations within an assigned geographical zone
- Organize, direct, supervise, support, and assign Christmas Kettle Campaign Workers and volunteers
- Ensure adequate staffing before and during shifts
- Attend required training/orientation
- Deliver kettles to zone locations and ensure donations are delivered to secure locations after shifts
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor
- Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
- Ensure accurate and timely weekly timesheets and mileage reports
- Remain at kettles for full shifts until relieved and ensure donation security
- Respond to donor questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs
- Promote, coordinate, and oversee campaign worker and volunteer activities
- Schedule staff and volunteers and respond to emergency absences
- Participate in recruitment and conduct orientation and performance management
- Maintain positive relationships with kettle sites
- Coordinate daily kettle delivery and pickup, including emergency delivery and pickup when required
- Host at kettles as needed to ensure break coverage
- Ensure locations have adequate literature and supplies
- Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets
- Retrieve equipment and supplies after the campaign
- Perform other related duties as required
- Report directly to the Corps Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset
- Minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
- Money handling experience is an asset
- Experience in office administration
- Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License required
- Personal vehicle and insurance required
- Current satisfactory driver’s abstract required
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully
- Original copy of a Background Check screening required
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
- Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs.)
- Ability to work days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and split shifts Monday through Saturday
- Flexibility in scheduling required
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication, listening, problem-solving, analytical, multitasking, confidentiality, and adaptability skills
- Compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
- Appropriate Salvation Army identification must be worn
