About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Craft fault-tolerant data pipelines and distributed systems to support millions of students.
Effective communicator who collaborates well with distributed engineering, product, and design teams; experience explaining data architecture to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ensure that timely, accurate data and metrics are delivered consistently.
Partner with your peer engineers and product owners on getting features and products to market.
Evolve data ownership and fluency across our teams, allowing us to bring new insights to customers easily and cost-effectively.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant professional experience in ETL / ELT using cloud-based databases at scale, such as MySQL, Postgres, BigQuery, Redshift, and/or Snowflake
Experience designing, coding, and supporting enterprise-scale ETL / ELT pipelines that balance efficiency and intuitive usage.
Experience architecting, building, and maintaining data warehouses, data lakes, and data meshes that are organized, performant, and easy to use.
Experience mentoring fellow team members and demonstrating how to stay proficient with new technologies, methodologies, and frameworks.
Understanding K-12 education data
Experience with the tools we use, like AWS (including S3, Glue, and Lambda), Airflow, Redshift, Data Build Tool (DBT), Snowflake, and Docker - plus experience with tools we don’t use, but should, and the wisdom to know when to recommend them
Enjoy working in a 100% remote environment - we have engineers across the US, as well as remote teams in Latin America.
