About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the hearings team, ensuring adjudication events follow NMC values, policies, and quality standards
  • Deliver up to 15 physical hearings and 20 virtual hearings per day
  • Manage a caseload of Fitness to Practise substantive hearings
  • Apply a threshold framework to ensure hearing readiness and resource efficiencies
  • Address escalations and practical issues through negotiation and influencing
  • Use attention to detail and numerical analysis to identify practical solutions
  • Build relationships within and outside the department
  • Collaborate on long-term projects to improve adjudication event quality
  • Motivate and engage the team through support, guidance, and policy-led management
  • Ensure operational excellence, staff empowerment, and fair, independent, efficient Fitness to Practise hearings and meetings
