  • Generate original reporting on news, events and trends on Elon Musk and his A.I. efforts, in conjunction with colleagues and editors
  • Build a network of sources informing rich and original reports, news and features
  • Write with authority, clarity, and independently
  • Handle breaking news and write thoughtfully about events, issues, finances and people
  • Write medium- and long-term enterprise and occasional features
  • Cover news accurately and efficiently through interviews, observations and research
  • Present facts and analysis in clear written form conforming to Times style, length and other requirements
  • Develop high-impact stories from broader themes underpinning incremental news developments
  • Write on deadline and react to feedback and edits

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of significant beat reporting and writing experience
  • Proven success building and cultivating sources
  • Experience reporting on companies
  • Ability to produce crisply written, well-organized stories accessible to busy, scrolling readers
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with colleagues across The New York Times newsroom
  • Resume and cover letter required, including links to 5–7 clips demonstrating range
