About the role
- Overseeing the operational aspects of the department
- Supporting the attainment of organizational objectives
- Establishing and prioritizing achievable goals in alignment with departmental and organizational aims
- Monitoring progress towards these objectives
- Providing guidance and support to ensure successful outcomes
- Nurturing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the department
- Overseeing the performance and professional development of direct reports
- Coordinating departmental activities and initiatives
- Optimizing the utilization of departmental resources
- Contributing to decision-making processes by providing analysis, data, and recommendations
- Participating in meetings, conferences, and community events to promote the department's mission and objectives
- Developing programs and initiatives to engage current members and recruit new ones
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in their field/expertise, preferably at the state or national level
- 3-5 years of supervisory/mentorship/coaching experience in non profit organizations
- Strong facilitation/presentation skills, both in-person and remote
- Expert proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite
- Expert proficiency in data management systems and protocols
- Understanding of financial management principles and practices, including budgeting, financial analysis, and revenue generation
- Ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations to ensure financial sustainability
- A proven track record in ensuring and overseeing the department's financial health and sustainability
- 1-3 years of experience utilizing emotional intelligence to develop and support teams/staff
- Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of organizers
- Strong managerial skills, including delegation, decision-making, and conflict resolution
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development of long-term and short term goals and priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
