About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide end-to-end employee relations legal support, including with regard to employment contracts, procedures and policies, industrial instruments, wage compliance, performance management, conduct issues, investigations, disciplinary action, disputes, strategic projects and other matters.
- Partner with the People & Culture team to help manage ER/IR-related legal risks and relevant compliance obligations and monitor and advise on changes to employment law and policy.
- Build, maintain and manage relationships across the organisation (particularly P&C), gaining support for, and influencing, key internal stakeholders in their approach to legal risk management.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree qualified in law and admitted as a solicitor in QLD (or relevant state or territory)
- Proven legal experience either in-house or in private practice with a focus on ER and IR law (minimum of 5 years)
- Core legal training undertaken in a law firm environment will be highly regarded
- Deep understanding of recent and emerging legislative change in the ER/IR environment and relevant case law
- Demonstrated experience partnering with P&C teams to support management of employee-related issues, risks and disputes (including litigation)
- Ability to operate autonomously – a self-starter with initiative and drive
